Bird Door Knocker

Pupils researched European birds and observed how they use their beaks to tap on hard surfaces. They looked closely at photos and created detailed sketches to understand the movement of the head and body when pecking. Using what they learned, they designed a bird-shaped door knocker that copies this action. When a string is pulled, it moves the whole body of the bird so the beak taps against the door, creating a knocking sound. By combining their observations with practical design skills, the pupils created a realistic and working bird door knocker.
